CTICH visits EKOFUNGI and prepares for IMMC11!

The coordinator team of BIOSCHAMP had the opportunity to visit the facilities of our partner EKOFUNGI near Belgrade, Serbia.

EKOFUNGI is an SME with a singular approach based on the principles of Blue Economy to produce certified organic mushrooms. In essence, the company has designed a circular business approach using nearby local providers of organic horse manure and straw to produce selective substrates for the cultivation of button mushrooms and oyster mushrooms. Eventually, they serve the market a set of food products based on their own dehydrated mushrooms.

In BIOSCHAMP, EKOFUNGI will validate the alternative casing material designed at a commercial scale following organic production procedures during Work Package four.

“We are really grateful for the great welcoming of our colleague Ivanka Milenkovic and the EKOFUNGI team” – Jaime Carrasco, Project Coordinator

The next day, the team participated in the 11th International Medicinal Mushroom Conference in Belgrade!
