SUSFERT is developing new bio-based fertilisers to reduce dependency on unsustainable phosphorus (P) imports into the EU using struvite as a renewable source of P. The project combines bio-based, biodegradable coatings and soil improvers from wood-based lignin for controlled release and new microbial products to increase nutrient availability/iron supply to fit into existing EU production and agricultural processes.
ULTIMATE aims to create economic value and increase sustainability by valorising resources within the water cycle. Wastewater is not only a reusable resource but also a carrier for energy and components that can be extracted, treated, stored, and reused. Drawing on “Water Smart Industrial Symbiosis” (WSIS) we promote wastewater recycling in various industrial settings.
