Wageningen Research in collaboration with Kekkilä-BVB & NewFoss evaluate the disease suppressiveness of casing soils based on alternatives for peat

At the facilities of Wageningen Research, currently a small scale experiment is running to study the suppressiveness of casing soils that fit into a ‘circular economy’. In these soils, peat is replaced for 50% by an alternative: fermented grass fibers provided by NewFoss, either spent casing or peat moss, harvested from deteriorated peat fields (Figure 1).
